Police seek suspects in drive-by shooting on city’s South Side

No arrests have been made in the drive-by shooting that injured a teenager over the weekend. A 15-year-old boy was shot in a drive-by on the South Side on Saturday.

Police said the boy and a friend were walking on South Avenue at 6:35 p.m. Saturday near Hilton Avenue when a tan vehicle pulled up and a shot was fired, hitting the boy in the leg and wrist.

Police found the victim sitting in front of a house on East Judson Avenue, where a large crowd had gathered, a report says.

Veterans agency office to close for meeting

The Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission, located in Suite 1000 in the Oakhill Renaissance Center, 345 Oak Hill Ave., will be closed Wednesday for a staff meeting.

Drug-abuse program slated in Boardman

Boardman Local Schools and Community Solutions will present “Hidden in Plain Sight,” a program designed to help parents detect if their child may be experimenting with illicit drugs, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 31 at Glenwood Middle School’s auditorium.

Experts will discuss the latest drug trends and indicators of risky behavior. All community members are invited to attend.

Trumbull park board to meet on food policy

The Trumbull County MetroParks Board will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at the MetroParks office, 185 E. Market St., for vendors to review and discuss the permitting process for operating food trucks on MetroParks properties.

Permit applications will be accepted from Friday to 3 p.m. April 24. A $25 nonrefundable permit fee is charged. The MetroParks board will determine how many permits to issue after the deadline passes.
