Phantoms set record in win

BENSENVILLE, ILL.
Less than 24 hours after clinching a playoff berth, the Youngstown Phantoms were back on the ice looking to make history.
A rare Sunday afternoon game in Chicago gave the USHL’s hottest team a chance to break the league record for consecutive victories. A goal from Kyle Connor with less than five minutes remaining in a tie game with the Steel lifted the Phantoms to their 17th win in a row, 4-3.
The win set a new USHL Tier-1 era record, dating back to 2002. The Phantoms are now 36-13-5 with a league-leading 77 points. Their last loss was on Jan. 31.
Tyler Sheehy gave Youngstown an early lead, scoring 29 seconds into the game. Chicago (26-24-3, 55 points) then tied the game on a power play goal from Fredrik Olofsson.
Kiefer Sherwood gave the Phantoms the lead at the first intermission with a late period goal. The Steel tied the game again in the second and then took the lead early in the third.
But goals from Matt Alvaro and Connor were the difference.
