A residential paper shred will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 18 in Salem Public Library’s parking lot, 821 E. State St.

Protect-n-Shred of Cortland will provide the service. Salem-area residents may take items such as bank statements, old tax forms, receipts, canceled checks, etc., to be safely and confidentially shredded on-site.

There is no cost to participate.

Do not take plastic, cardboard or newspaper to be shredded.

Registration is not required.

Time warp dance for Relay for Life

Edison’s Medicine will host an ’80s time warp dance at 6 p.m. April 25 at McMenamy’s Banquet Center, 325 Youngstown-Warren Road, to benefit Relay for Life of Niles.

Appearing as special guests will be Perfect Pair and Skull and Crossbones. There will be a 50-50 raffle, a basket auction, buffet dinner, soda, coffee and tea, and a cash bar. Guests must be 21 and over. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased from the Edison’s Medicine relay Facebook page with PayPal, charged by phone at 330-544-1732, or from any Relay for Life team member. Beatitude House gets $5,000 grant

Beatitude House has received a $5,000 grant from The Thomases Family Endowment to support its House of Blessing to maintain life-altering services provided to disadvantaged women and children.

The House of Blessing, located on the North Side, provides participants with the opportunity to gain stability in their lives and achieve permanent housing.

Beatitude House offers a holistic approach providing education and support services to transform clients’ lives to ultimately escape poverty.
