Jennings has scouting program in April 19

Staff report

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.

Girl and Boy Scout troops from the Junior Girl Scout and Webelo Scout ages/levels and up are invited to participate in “Scout Stewards,” the second in this year’s series of volunteer-service experiences at Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road.

This event is part of Jennings’ “Take Back the Woods: Battling Invasive Species” effort, and will take place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. April 19.

Scouts will discover the importance of maintaining native plant species and will participate in a project to control non-native, invasive plants at the park. Scout participants will receive a commemorative patch — one in a series of four — in return for their help.

Space is limited, and registration is required. There is a $5 per person fee for children and adults that must be paid in advance but is refundable upon attendance at the event.

Individual Scouts or troops, packs or groups of no more than 10 should register for the program beginning at 9 a.m. Friday by calling 724-794-6011. Registration closes April 8.
