Valley students record Operation Keepsake album
Staff report
CANFIELD
Students from several Mahoning Valley school districts have become recording artists.
Operation Keepsake released its premiere “Represent” album featuring performances by local students who are positively defining their generation through music. The student-artists will be performing live from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Old North Church, 7105 Herbert Road.
Several area schools are featured on the album: Austintown Fitch High School, Bedford High School, Campbell Memorial High School, Youngstown Chaney High School, Salem High School, Warrensville Heights High School and Western Reserve High School.
Students created videos and songs for the Operation Keepsake project. The videos were released earlier this year at a film festival at Austintown Fitch High School. During the film festival, Campbell Memorial High School students won an “Oscar” for Best Actress and Best Short Film.
The album is $5, and the songs being released individually through YouTube and Facebook are:
Monday, “The One and Only Me,” Youngstown Chaney; Wednesday, “The Game Is Over,” Bedford. Those previously released are “My Destiny” and “Dance Again,” both by Youngstown Chaney; “I’ll Stand Up” by Bedford; “Lay It Down,” by Campbell Memorial and Austitown Fitch; “You Are Not Alone” by Salem; and “Brave” by Western Reserve.
