Groening lecture

CANFIELD

The Bruno Groening Circle of Friends will have a 90-minute lecture, featuring Arlene Barkan, leader of the Youngstown and Cleveland Communities, and Internet Children’s Community of North America, at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St.

A short documentary film will be shown. Admission is free.

The Circle of Friends is not affiliated with Lord of Life Lutheran Church, or any other religion. Bruno Groening (1906-59) was a German healer who taught about the power of faith in overcoming disease.

The Circle of Friends passes on his teachings through information lectures.

To attend community hours, participants must be introduced at an information lecture.

First Friday Club

Jim Merhaut will be the featured speaker when the First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown meets April 9 at Antone’s Banquet Centre, 8578 Market St.

He is an author and ministry and organizational consultant.

His topic will be “I Care About You: Essential Principles & Practices for Loving Relationships.”

Pastor anniversary

Pastor Lowell T. Williams and his wife, Jennifer, will mark his 20th pastoral anniversary during a celebration at 3:30 p.m. Sunday with the theme, “Esteeming Him Worthy.” The Rev. Joseph Davis is morning speaker and program emcee. Afternoon speaker will be Dr. Samuel Williams of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsburgh.

Community choir

YOUNGSTOWN

Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Youngstown and Vicinity will present the Emancipation Community Choir in a narrated Holy Week cantata, “Seven Steps to the Cross,” at 7 p.m. March 31 at St. James Church of God in Christ, 75 S. Prospect Ave., where Elder George Moore is pastor. Elder John “Luke” Shumpert is music and production director. Rehearsals are at 5 p.m. today and next Saturday at the E.B. Family Life Center, 7 S. Garland Ave.

Revival event

NEW CASTLE, PA.

Elder Emmitt L. Nevels Jr. of Youngstown will speak at Revival Fire at 7:30 p.m. Friday at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ, 1701 Moravia St., with Gary Clark, host pastor.

Easter musical

AUSTINTOWN

An Easter musical celebration, “The Cross and The Crown,” will be presented at 7 p.m. March 29 at Abundant Harvest World Outreach Center, 104 Idlewood Road.

Singing will be the Revs. Leslie Hawkins and Edie Bradley, evangelist Kimberly Thompson with Jason Pangio, minister of music.

A $10 donation will be received at the door with all proceeds going to the Rev. Michael Pangio’s misson project for Lagos, Nigeria.

Youth revival

YOUNGSTOWN

The Christian Education Youth Department of Price Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, 920 Dryden Ave., will host a pre-Holy Week youth revival at 7 p.m. Friday featuring Minister James E. Tyson, youth director of Ecclesia Calvary Ministries International.

He is a member Calvary Ministries International, where the pastor is his father, Suffragan Bishop C. Shawn Tyson.

Movie to be shown

CANFIELD

The movie “Mary of Nazareth” will be shown at 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Michael Church parish center, 350 N. Broad St.

This is a free showing and light refreshments will be served.

The movie is appropriate for children 11 and older.

Church anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN

Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 646 Lakewood Ave., will mark its 93rd anniversary during worship at 10:30 a.m. Sunday with guest speaker, Pastor Larry Scott of Valley Baptist Church in Niles.

The theme is “We’ve Come This Far by Faith and Unity.”
