Beatitude House gets $5,000 grant

Beatitude House has received $5,000 grant from The Thomases Family Endowment to support Beatitude House’s A House of Blessing Youngstown to maintain services provided to the disadvantaged women and children it serves in Youngstown.

A House of Blessing Youngstown, on the North Side, provides participants with the opportunity to gain stability in their lives and achieve permanent housing.

Last year, 21 women and 44 children received services through A House of Blessing Youngstown.

Beatitude House serves disadvantaged women and children in the Mahoning Valley by creating homes, providing educational opportunities and fostering healthy families. For information, call 330-744-3147.

Ramp reopened

YOUNGSTOWN

The U.S. Route 422 exit ramp of the Madison Avenue Expressway on the city’s East Side, closed by a mudslide last week, reopened late Friday afternoon, city officials said.

Donations coming for stadium project

BOARDMAN

Several area businesses will contribute $20,000 toward Boardman’s stadium project, Boardman schools announced Friday.

Contributors are: Hill, Barth and King; Prout Boiler, Heating & Welding; and Simon Roofing.

“We are pleased to welcome these local companies as sponsors as we work toward the goal of a new Spartan Stadium,” said Bill Bonte, Boardman Boosters president, in a statement.

Information session

CANFIELD

Representatives from Ohio Connections Academy, an e-school serving students in grades K-12 throughout the state, will host an information session for interested parents and students from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road.

The information session is designed to educate parents and prospective students about the virtual public school as well as answer questions about the program. Enrollment for the 2015-16 academic year is open.

Easter celebration

Today is the deadline to register your child for the Rockwood Village Free Easter Celebration set for 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 4 at Rockwood Village Activity Center, 1420 Dogwood Lane.

The Center for Community Empowerment along with area business, churches, organizations and parents are sponsoring the free celebration for children age 3 to 12.
