Addiction awareness will be meeting topic

WARREN

Solace of the Valley, a new organization, invites the public to attend an addiction awareness event at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Leo’s Ristorante, 7042 E. Market St.

The organization’s goal is to be a powerful force in creating awareness of addiction as a disease, provide education and information to local leaders, and create a system of support for existing rehabilitation resources.

More and more families in the Valley are being hurt by the problem of addiction. Family members not only watch as a loved one suffers, they also face the negative reaction of friends, family members and strangers who don’t understand that addiction is considered by many to be a disease.

Selected scenes from the film “The Anonymous People,” a documentary about the 23 million Americans living in long-term recovery from addiction to alcohol and drugs.

Many Valley leaders are expected to attend.

A discussion will follow. Pizza and beverages will be served.

For information or to RSVP contact ckclarkkc@aol.com. Leaders of the group follow: Eric C. Ungaro, president; Linda Spies, executive director; Anna Howells, executive director; Kerrie Clark, vice president; and Rocco Greco, treasurer.
