Maple Syrup Festival at Boardman Park

Staff report

BOARDMAN

Boardman Park’s 38th annual Maple Syrup Festival and Boardman Rotary Pancake Breakfast will be this weekend and next.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and again March 28 and 29. The park entrance is U.S. 224, just west of the Shops at Boardman Park. The breakfast is $6 (free for children 6 and under).

The Maple Syrup Festival is a spring tradition. Park staff will demonstrate the syrup-making process, from tapping maple trees, collecting sap, and boiling it. Boy Scout Troop 60 will demonstrate its skills, and there also will be a Civil War re-enactment, plus wagon rides through the park trails.

At the Lariccia Family Community Center, the Boardman Historical Society will share history, and there also will be woodcarvers and taxidermy demonstrations. Syrup also can be purchased. For information, go to boardmanpark.com.
