AUSTINTOWN
Fire officials said Wednesday they are considering an electrical malfunction as the cause of a fire at Los Gallos restaurant here.
The fire Sunday morning caused about $150,000 in damage to the restaurant on North Canfield-Niles Road.
Austintown Fire Chief Andy Frost III said Wednesday, “At this point, there’s nothing suspicious.” He said fire officials, however, still are investigating.
Open house at Ys
The YMCA of Youngstown opens its doors at the Central YMCA, 17 N. Champion St., Youngstown, and Davis Family YMCA, 45 McClurg Road, Boardman, on Friday to celebrate spring with the community.
The Davis Family YMCA open house, from 6 to 9 p.m., offers swimming, face painting, story and craft time, a bounce house, obstacle course, scavenger hunt and group exercise.
The Central YMCA open house, from noon to 2 and 5 to 9 p.m., offers swimming, games, a movie and popcorn, board and table games and a variety of classes including Drums Alive, Insanity, Strong Fit, Yoga and Spinning.

Burglary probed

Township police are investigating a burglary after a Firnley Avenue resident reported more than $2,000 worth of property was missing from his house.
The victim reported that after he returned from a three-month trip, he noticed a door had been pried open, and a window was broken. He reported he was missing a television, game systems, DVDs and games.
Dem chairmen endorse Strickland
YOUNGSTOWN
Nine Eastern Ohio county Democratic Party chairmen are endorsing ex-Gov. Ted Strickland’s 2016 bid for U.S. Senate.
Among those who endorsed Strickland on Wednesday were Mahoning County Democratic Party Chairman David Betras and Columbiana County Chairman Denny Johnson.
The other county chairmen come from Jefferson, Belmont, Harrison, Washington, Gallia, Guernsey and Lawrence.
Strickland and Cincinnati Councilman P.G. Sittenfeld say they’re running in the Democratic primary next year for the U.S. Senate seat held by U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, a Republican from the Cincinnati area seeking re-election.
