Austintown girl flees from man who tried to lure her into van

AUSTINTOWN — A girl ran away from a man attempting to lure her into his vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

A 14-year-old girl was walking home from school and a van pulled up to her. The man said he worked with the girl's mother and could give her a ride home. The girl's mother does not work.

The incident was reported at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said the girl then ran to Wendy's, 27 S. Raccoon Road, to get away from the vehicle. The girl said the man smelled like alcohol, there was another man in the vehicle and there was no visible registration and the van had tinted windows.

Austintown police are investigating the case.
