OE still working to restore power for some South Side customers

YOUNGSTOWN — A van that ran into a utility pole at Glenwood and Garfield avenues on the South Side about 5:45 a.m. today knocked out power to about 500 homes in the surrounding area.

Vindicator broadcast partner 21 WFMJ-TV reported that as of noon, 150 customers were still without power. The television station reported Ohio Edison hopes to have all power restored about 3:30 p.m.

Police cited the van driver, an elderly man, for failure to control.
