2 arrested on drug charges after traffic stop on East Side

YOUNGSTOWN — Police found six bags of suspected marijuana and 10 different pills after pulling a car over for speeding about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday at the Albert Street exit to the Himrod Avenue Expressway.

Reports said when the officer followed the vehicle he also noticed it had excessive window tint and no rear license plate. The driver, Raemar Brodie, 23, of Emerson Avenue, Farrell, Pa., told officers he did not have his license or registration, reports said.

Reports said both Brodie and his passenger, Chelsae Ross, 23, of Columbus, both had suspended licenses so the car had to be towed. The suspected drugs were found when the car was searched before it was towed.

Brodie admitted the suspected marijuana was his but said he did not know the pills were in the car, reports said. He was arrested on charges of trafficking in marijuana and driving under suspension.

Ross is charged with possession of drugs and possession of marijuana for a marijuana cigarette that was found in the car.

Both were taken to the Mahoning County jail.
