Man arrested after shooting his gun to break up a fight
YOUNGSTOWN — A Willis Avenue man was cited for discharging a firearm in city limits at about 7 p.m. Monday after reports said he fired a gun in the air as two groups of women were fighting in front of his home in the 400 block of Willis Avenue.
Police were called to the street for a report of gunfire. Frank Bell, 53, told police the two groups of women were arguing on his property so he took a 9mm handgun from his garage and fired a round into the air to scare them off and protect his property, reports said.
Bell told police he has a concealed carry permit and told police he thought he was right in defending his property, reports said.
Reports said Bell is related to some of the women who were involved.
Bell was given a citation and a court date in municipal court.
