Mussler Chiropratic in Boardman and The Supplement Station are presenting their ninth annual Health and Wellness Fair, dubbed Spring into Health, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at The Supplement Station, 1139 E. Pidgeon Road, Salem.

A number of health and wellness practitioners will be on hand, including Dr. Danielle MacDuff, naturopath, from 9 a.m. to noon and available for free mini-consultations.

Mussler Chiropractic will offer free spine and posture checks, blood-pressure checks and pain- relief consultations.

Mercy Health will offer free heel-bone scans in the afternoon and blood work for a small fee in the morning, both of which require an appointment. Call 330-337-3835 to schedule.

Healthful eating

Mercy Health Youngstown is offering “Healthy Eating for You: Eating Mindfulness” from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday in the Warren Room at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, 667 Eastland Ave.

Diabetes education

YOUNGSTOWN

Mercy Health Youngstown is offering diabetes education from 6 to 8:30 today, Wednesday and Thursday at Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland.

Health care professionals who teach the course, which is certified by the American Diabetes Association, focus on the medical aspects of the disease such as medications, glucose monitoring, exercise and complications during the first session. The second and third sessions focus on learning to plan meals, count carbohydrates, interpret food labels and make positive food choices.

Bariatric surgery info

HERMITAGE, PA.

Sharon Regional Health System is offering a free bariatric surgery informational session at 6 p.m. March 25 at the Hermitage Diagnostic and Imaging Center, 2435 Garden Way.

The sessions include information on obesity and its impact on overall health, a review of surgical weight-loss options including benefits and risks, a look at Body Mass Index (BMI), along with other information to assist participants in making an informed decision about surgical weight- loss treatments.

Recruiting volunteers

SHARON, PA.

The Hospice and Palliative Care Program of Sharon Regional Health System is recruiting volunteers to help families of the terminally ill in Mercer and northern Lawrence counties.

Prospective volunteers must complete a three-week volunteer training series that is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, April 8, 15 and 22, at 1955 Shenango Valley Freeeway, Hermitage, Pa.

Diabetes seminar

YOUNGSTOWN

Danielle MacDuff, local doctor of naturopathy, is offering a free seminar, “Control Diabetes for Life,” from 6 to 8 p.m. March 26 at I.T.T. Technical Center, 1030 N. Meridian Road.

The seminar will include free snacks and food samples, as well as a cooking demonstration and a “sugar-free, no guilt” chocolate demonstration.

Dr. MacDuff said she specializes in treating chronic diseases, such as high blood pressure and diabetes, with noninvasive diagnostics and natural remedies that allow the body to heal the underlying causes of a person’s ailments.
