Police say a man was beaten with a pistol and robbed while making a delivery to a store on the far East Side on Monday morning.
Officers were called to a 2407 Jacobs Road store about 11 a.m., where a delivery driver said a man came up to him, knocked him down and beat him in the head with a gun before taking his money.
Reports said the driver told police he saw a man wearing all-black clothing standing near the store and when he turned his back on the man, the man ran toward him, knocked him down and started beating him.
The driver told police the man was yelling at him but the driver could not make out what the man was saying. Reports said the man took money out of his pocket and began running away.
The store owner said the man attacking the driver had a shirt over his face and the shirt came off, which showed his face. The owner recognized the attacker, and police checked his name and saw he had an address nearby.
Reports said police checked the address and were allowed inside by a woman who lives there, but the attacker was not there.
The driver refused medical treatment, reports said.
