YOUNGSTOWN

Police said they recovered a gun that slipped through a teen’s clothes Saturday evening on the South Side.

Reports said officers spotted three teens standing on a corner at East Boston Avenue and Southern Boulevard about 11:35 p.m. and went to see why they were out since it was past curfew.

They were spotted a short time later walking in the first block of East Boston Avenue. Reports said they walked up a drive to the door of a home and began knocking, and officers asked them if they lived there. One of the teens said they did not, reports said.

Reports said that teen had his hands against his chest like he was trying to grip something.

When the officers got on the porch, they heard something hitting the floor by the teen’s leg and they found a loaded .38- special revolver, reports said.

Reports said the teen admitted to police the gun was his. The teen told police he had the gun strapped to his chest with a belt and it began sliding down his chest when they reached the home.

The teen told police he paid $300 for the gun and he wanted it because he had been shot a few weeks ago. Reports said a check of the gun showed it was stolen in Mississippi.

The teen was arrested on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon and taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center. The two other teens were given citations for walking in the roadway and released.
