UPDATE | Power restored in Girard, Niles and Liberty

YOUNGSTOWN — Power was fully restored for most homes and business tonight.

About 3,500 customers in the Girard, Niles, and Liberty area were affected by a power outage that lasted from 5:50 to 6:10 p.m., said Mark Durbin, a spokesman for FirstEnergy Corp. There was a problem with a 23-kilovolt transmission line, which crews were able to reset for a 20-minute outage.

Crews are still investigating the cause, Durbin added.

Power also went out in Masury due to a car hitting a pole more than four hours ago, said Chris Eck, another spokesperson for FirstEnergy. Power was restored to the area as of 8:20 p.m., he said.
