Season 2 of “Fat N Furious” wraps up tonight.

But will it be the finish line?

The Discovery Channel reality show (10 p.m. Mondays) follows the crew at Christmas Automotive as the four men acquire dilapidated muscle cars and restore them to drag racing condition.

The eight-episode season 2 concludes tonight with the gang — Tommy Christmas, Chuck Kountz, Andy Pivarnik and Steve McGranahan — in New Orleans, where they ply their craft. The special episode was shot in the Big Easy late last year.

Ratings have been up and down this season, said Christmas, who said he hasn’t heard yet whether the show will be renewed for a third season.

Jackie Lamaj, a spokeswoman for the Discovery Channel, said the decision to film more episodes hasn’t been made yet.

“Conversations are ongoing on whether shows are renewed,” she said. “But we might not know for a few months.”

Lamaj said the network likes the show.

As for Christmas, he is hoping that folks tune in tonight to get a ratings boost that could move it off the bubble.

Christmas said the show was better this season than last year. “People say we were more relaxed in front of the camera,” he said.

Ratings rise and fall from week to week for every show on television. Last season, “Fat N Furious” was a question mark as to whether it would get picked up going into its sixth and final episode.

“The ratings were bad for week five, then they shot up 30 percent for week six,” said Christmas, adding the hefty bump weighed large in the decision to renew. This season is following a similar trajectory.

“If the ratings go way up for the last episode this year, we have a good shot at getting picked up again,” said Christmas.

Fans of the show can leave a message with Discovery to request it be renewed by going online at corporate.discovery.com, and finding Viewer Relations on the pull-down menu under the Contact header.

Last week’s episode ranked ranked No. 43 in the ratings for cable TV shows in the age 18-49 category, with a viewership of 1.16 million. On March 2, the show grabbed 1.415 million viewers in the same category.

Christmas it’s possible that new competition is having a negative effect on ratings this year, specifically “Better Call Saul,” which airs on AMC in the same time slot. The “Breaking Bad” spinoff garnered 2.573 million viewers in the 18-49 range on March 9.
