‘Cinderella’ is belle of the box office

NEW YORK

“Let It Go” may be Walt Disney’s anthem these days, but “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” might be the more accurate theme song for the Disney juggernaut.

Disney’s recent streak continued over the weekend with the $70.1 million North American debut of its traditional, sumptuously costumed fairy tale adaptation “Cinderella,” according to studio estimates Sunday.

Rounding out the top-five films at the box office were: “Run All Night,” $11 million, second place; “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” $6.2 million, third; “Focus,” $5.8 million, fourth; and “Chappie,” $5.8 million, fifth place.

Family is ‘grateful’ for man’s arrest

NEW ORLEANS

Robert Durst, an eccentric millionaire from one of America’s wealthiest families, was arrested on a murder warrant just before Sunday’s finale of a serial documentary about his links to three killings.

FBI agents arrested Durst Saturday at a New Orleans hotel on a warrant from Los Angeles in connection with the murder of a mobster’s daughter 15 years ago, authorities said.

Durst was ordered held without bond pending another hearing today.

Durst’s estranged and fearful relatives thanked authorities for tracking him down. “We hope he will finally be held accountable for all he has done,” said his brother, Douglas Durst.
