AUSTINTOWN

A fire at the Los Gallos restaurant on North Canfield-Niles Road on Sunday morning caused an estimated $150,000 in damage to the building and contents, the Austintown Fire Department said.

The Austintown and Weathersfield fire departments fought the fire, which started about 10 a.m. in the bar area. The fire gutted the bar and the roof, the department said. The restaurant was not open yet, and no one was hurt.

The cause is under investigation.

Awards dinner

The Youngstown Professional Firefighters, International Association of Firefighters Local 312’s 28th annual retirement and awards dinner is set for Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Social Hall, 343 Via Mount Carmel.

A social hour will begin at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 and opening ceremonies at 8 with the presentation of colors by the fire department’s honor guard.

This year, six 2014 retirees will be honored along with several Local 312 members for service in the line of duty and well beyond expectation. Firefighters from throughout the state will be in attendance.

Cemetery cleanup

The superintendent of Belmont Park Cemetery, 3346 Belmont Ave., requests that all artificial decorations be retrieved from the grounds by March 23. Any decorations left after that date will be removed.
