The Vindicator will run a listing of area services that are open to the public in observance of Palm Sunday, March 29; Holy Thursday, April 2; Good Friday, April 3; Holy Saturday, April 4; and Easter, April 5.

Deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. March 25. Publication will be March 28.

Information should include the denomination and name of the church, address, city or suburb, the day, time, type of service, your name and a phone number for verification.

Lenten mission

NEW MIDDLETOWN

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., will present The Lenten mission, “Building Your Faith on a Firm Foundation,” at 1 p.m. March 22, 9 a.m. Mass and 6:45 p.m. March 23 and 24 and 9 a.m. Mass on March 25. Speaker will be Richard Lane, who will “preach, teach and share the word of God in the truest spirit of ecumenism.” He has been featured on Catholic Answers Live, Relevant Radio and EWTN ”Journey Home.”

The free sessions are for families, youths and adults of all faiths. A free-will offering will be collected.

Gospel of John

CANFIELD

Brad Sherrill will present a one-man performance of “The Gospel of John,” during a program March 25 at Canfield Presbyterian Church, 140 W. Main St.

Sherrill has been an actor for 30 years in Atlanta and a member of the Methodist Church. He performs “The Gospel of John” because it is the “nourishment of the heat, mind and soul.”

Hors d’oeuvres will be at 5:30 p.m. and the performance from 6:15 to 8 p.m. There is no admission fee; an offering will be taken.

Lenten activities for children and a nursery will be available.

Installed as pastor

BATH, OHIO

The Rev. Jonathan F. Weaver of Chagrin Falls was installed Feb. 21 as the new pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church in Bath by Bishop Abraham Allende of the Northeast Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

He is the son of Frank and Marilyn Weaver of North Lima, and grandson of Marian Miller of Glenellen.

This is Rev. Mr. Weaver’s first call as head pastor. His previous position was associate pastor of Lord of Life in Chagrin Falls. He was ordained Sept. 10, 2011, by Bishop Elizabeth Eaton of the ELCA.

Mr. Weaver received a bachelor’s degree in religion from Hiram College and a master of divinity degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus.

In the Mahoning Valley, Mr. Weaver worshipped at Bethel Lutheran Church in Boardman. The endowment fund of Bethel supported him at seminary school.

The pastor and his wife, the former Julie Arlene Kocka from Strongsville, have a son, James Ryan, almost 2 years old.

Church relocating

YOUNGSTOWN

After 90 years in Struthers, Faith Fellowship Church of God is relocating. The church bought the former Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 388 E. Midlothian Blvd., which closed in December.

The first service will take place at 10:45 a.m. Sunday with Gospel hymns and contemporary choruses. Jonathan Mitchell is pastor.
