St. Christine Scouts will serve dinner

YOUNGSTOWN

St. Christine Scouting program is hosting an all-you-can eat pasta dinner and a Mothers of Scouting basket auction from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at the parish center, 3165 S. Schenley Ave.

This is the 19th year for the event.

Meals include salad, dessert and a beverage. A donation of $7 is appreciated; kids 4 and under eat free. Carryout is available, and containers will be provided.

Baseball team plans mattress fundraiser

CANFIELD

Canfield High School Baseball Team will host a mattress sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 21 at Canfield Middle School. This fundraiser has been successful in school districts all over the country for nearly 10 years.

Name-brand mattresses including Simmons and Beautyrest will be available up to 50 percent below retail, starting at $199.

Firm, pillow-top, orthopedic, and latex and gel memory foam sets will be available.

In addition, layaway and delivery are available and cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted.

A showroom will feature more than 20 displays and a team of experts to assist, and layaway and delivery are available.

McGuffey Society to hear Nancy Beeghly

Nancy Ward Beeghly, retired Vindicator feature writer, will speak at 10 a.m. March 21 at Kravitz’s Deli meeting room, 3135 Belmont Ave., about her Lifetime of Memories for the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society.

This event is free and open to the public, with complimentary refreshments served.

A good will offering will be accepted, and a 50-50 raffle will take place. Reservations are suggested, but walk-ins are welcome.

Beeghly and her husband, Bruce, are recipients of the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society’s Pioneer Award, which honors contributions by individuals to Mahoning Valley educational, cultural, and civic affairs.

Canfield Lions plan craft, antique show

CANFIELD

Canfield Lions Club will sponsor its annual craft, antique and quilt show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 28 at Canfield High School, 100 Cardinal Drive.

Admission and parking are free, and hot food will be available.

More than 100 vendors will sell wares consisting of antiques, quilts, baked goods, florals, spring creations and jewelry, among many other items.

Also featured will be a basket auction and a 50-50 raffle.

Race will benefit lung cancer research

WARREN

The seventh annual Carrie Walsh-Jones Run for the Lung 5K Run-Walk will begin at 9 a.m. April 4 at Courthouse Square, 150 High St.

Proceeds will benefit lung cancer research.

The race is part of Run the Courthouse, and registrants receive a gift if they also sign up for Run With the Deputies 5K Dash on June 13.

Fees are $17 in advance and $20 on race day. Registration will take place from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. on race day.
