The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, 812 Youngstown-Kingsville Road SE, is announcing the debut of its Pet Awareness Class Club program with 20 TCAP Head Start classes from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:15 to 3:15 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

The classes will take place at TCAP, 1230 Palmyra Road SW. The Pet Awareness Class Club is a series of classes focusing on responsible pet ownership, dog-bite prevention, animal safety and awareness and service-dog etiquette.

The first series of classes are the PAC Pup Club for children age 3 to 8. Participants will hear a 30- to 40-minute program led by an education coordinator and will receive a key chain, a 12-page coloring book reviewing key class points and a certificate.

Participating students and organizations are encouraged to donate items from the shelter wish list or offer a monetary donation to help support the animals.

At this time, only the Pup Club classes are available. The Animal Welfare League plans to add additional classes such as the PAC Member Club for children age 9-14 and a PAC Leader Club for age 15 and up in the future.

The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit humane organization that relies solely on donations from the public and its donors to help homeless animals, maintain operations, provide classes such as the PAC Club and more. Shelter hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
