QB Lewis returns, TE Cameron leaves
BEREA
The Browns were having quarterback issues the last time Thad Lewis played for them. Nothing’s changed.
Lewis, one of 22 quarterbacks to start for Cleveland’s franchise since 1999, signed a one-year deal with the team on Thursday. A career backup, Lewis started the 2012 season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He’s been to Buffalo and Houston in the interim, and now comes back to a place where quarterbacks come and go on a regular basis.
But while the Browns brought back one former player, another of their unrestricted free agents left.
Former Pro Bowl tight end Jordan Cameron signed a two-year contract with the Miami Dolphins, who outbid Cleveland for the 27-year-old slowed last season by a concussion.
Indians rushing to complete renovation
CLEVELAND
The only objects being thrown inside Progressive Field right now are snowballs.
But although most of the ballpark’s infield remains buried from an unrelenting winter, the Indians are confident renovations at Progressive Field will be completed in time for the April 10 home opener.
The Indians’ home ballpark, built in 1994, has been remodeled this offseason with new tiered bullpens, open terraces, an expanded kids clubhouse and a two-story bar in the right-field corner that will likely be packed with frozen fans during chilly April and May home games.

Burnett struck out two and walked three. Red Sox right-hander Clay Buchholz survived a rocky first inning that included two singles, a hit batter, a wild pitch, a wild pickoff, and a sacrifice fly.
