YOUNGSTOWN
Police found 10 bags of suspected marijuana inside the pants of a man they pulled over on the East Side about 2 p.m. Wednesday at McGuffey and Jacobs roads for running a stop sign.
Reports said officers smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and asked the occupants to step out so it could be searched.
One of the passengers, Jamal Moody, 20, of Rigby Street, was acting nervous, reports said. Reports said Moody admitted having marijuana in his pants.
Moody was given a summons for possession of marijuana, reports said. The driver was given a warning for running a stop sign.
Gunshot reported
WARREN
A 22-year-old Southern Boulevard woman reported the rear window of her car shattered, possibly from a gunshot, at 5:50 a.m. Thursday as she drove south on Southern Boulevard.
She stopped the car and called police, who noticed “what appeared to be a bullet hole in the back of the driver’s seat with a broken wire sticking out, which she stated was not there prior to this incident,” police said. The woman said she heard what sounded like a gunshot from outside of her vehicle at the time the window shattered.
The officer checked the interior of the seat but could not find the bullet.
Bids for renovations
WARREN
The Trumbull County commissioners will advertise for bids for renovations to the former First Place Bank building, 159 E. Market St., to prepare the space for the move of the county’s Child Support Enforcement Agency into the building, possibly as soon as this summer.
The agency is in the Stone Building at the corner of High Street and North Park Avenue. Commissioners approved the measure at their regular meeting Wednesday.
The former bank currently houses the Trumbull County Planning Commission, Building Inpection Department and MetroParks Board offices.
No ruling on request
WARREN
A hearing in Warren Municipal Court on Wednesday did not resolve whether the owner of the former Packard Electric buildings on Dana and Griswold streets will be jailed.
An assistant Warren law director recently asked Magistrate Dan Gerin to revoke bond for the owner, Sergio DiPaolo of Girard, because of purported building-code violations at the site. But the magistrate did not rule on the request Wednesday.
DiPaolo is charged with building-code violations for purportedly continuing demolition work at the site despite having expired demolition permits.
Another hearing is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. April 1.
