Fundraisers planned for robotic, Lego teams

GIRARD

A Night at the Races and basket auction will take place Saturday at Girard American Legion, 11 High St. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the first race is at 7.

Proceeds will benefit the Girard High School FIRST Robotics team and Jr. High School and Intermediate School’s Lego League Teams.

Admission is free, and food will be served. A 50-50 raffle and auction race also are planned.

Students in the FIRST Robotics program work throughout the year to promote their team and FIRST Robotics as well as design and build prototypes for their competition robot.

Kit homes program to help with hunt

SALEM

You may be surprised to learn that your home is a manufactured, or kit, home. Many are, even though they might not be basic ranch homes.

Those who want to be kit house detectives can attend a program at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Smucker House, 171 S. Broadway.

Rebecca Hunter, a historian and expert in manufactured/kit homes, will teach the public some tricks to help in the hunt for house information. She is based in Elgin, Ill., but is in Salem to help with a kit home inventory.
