A newspaper is accusing the Ohio State Highway Patrol of violating the law by refusing to release cruiser-camera video of a car chase in southwest Ohio.

The Cincinnati Enquirer this week filed a lawsuit asking the Ohio Supreme Court to force the Ohio Department of Public Safety to release a trooper’s dash-camera video showing the January chase of a fleeing suspect. The department is the patrol’s parent agency.

The lawsuit says the department denied the newspaper’s request for the video and said an unnamed prosecutor asked that it be withheld.
