Austintown woman gets prison time for home-invasion burglary

YOUNGSTOWN — An Austintown woman was sentenced to seven years in prison in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court today for her role in a home-invasion burglary in 2013.

Judge Maureen Sweeney sentenced Christina Direnzo, 22, on charges of aggravated burglary, felonious assault and aggravated robbery with firearms specifications for the Dec. 15, 2013, home invasion at a Newton Avenue home.

A woman there said two people burst in, one of them armed, demanded money and took several items before running away.

Her brother, Steven Direnzo, took part in the burglary and another home invasion and is also serving a seven-year prison sentence.

Christina Direnzo apologized, saying she was under the influence of drugs at the time.
