POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

March 7

Criminal damaging: A mailbox sustained damage in the 2000 block of Bedford Road.

Identity fraud: A Poland Village Boulevard man discovered his personal information had been stolen.

BOARDMAN

March 4

Aggravated menacing: Authorities responded to a possible break-in at a Cook Avenue apartment before charging William Porter III, 20, of Weston Avenue, Youngstown, with aggravated menacing. A woman alleged Porter twice called, then sent her a text message threatening to kill her after police had left, a report showed.

Drugs: Marcus J. Wilkins, 26, of Cornell Street, Youngstown, faced three felony counts of trafficking in drugs and one felony count each of manufacturing drugs and being a convicted felon with a firearm. A Feb. 9 search warrant for an apartment in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court turned up a loaded .45-caliber firearm and bags containing ammunition as well as suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin and marijuana; also found were a digital scale and a mixer with suspected drug residue, a report showed.

Menacing: A Mathews Road man told police a neighbor threatened to harm him during an argument about his TV having been too loud.

Bad check: Authorities at the Mahoning County jail phone-booked Ronald F. Paris Jr., 20, on a charge of passing a bad check. Paris, of Russell Avenue, Niles, was accused of passing a $500 check at Taylor Kia of Boardman, 7870 Market St., that was returned for nonsufficient funds.

Domestic violence: Youngstown police handed David G. Carr, 41, of South Lakeview Avenue, Youngstown, to township authorities. He was charged with making two threatening calls to a Millcreek Boulevard woman regarding a dispute about child-support payments.

March 5

Burglary: Authorities booked Calvin S. Shelton, 25, of Applecrest Court, Boardman, on a burglary charge after a woman reported someone broke into her Hillman Way apartment Jan. 27, stole property and damaged her TV.

Theft: Amanda Banks, 32, of Pennsylvania Avenue, Boardman, was charged in the theft of $115 worth of clothing and cosmetics from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Bad check: A man reportedly paid for $102 worth of merchandise at Cards & Collectibles, 1393 Boardman-Canfield Road, with a check drawn on a closed account.

Domestic violence: Craig A. Douglas Jr., 23, of East Auburndale Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with the crime after a Dec. 25 situation in which his former girlfriend, of South Avenue, alleged Douglas had slapped and choked her during an argument pertaining to their daughter.

Theft: Evelyn M. Alexander, 30, of Maywood Drive, Youngstown, was charged with stealing three wristwatch batteries, a pack of adhesive strips, earrings and duct tape from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Assault: Authorities charged Mose D. Fleetion, 49, of Choice Street, Youngstown, with assault and theft after his girlfriend alleged that while driving near Market Street, Fleetion had punched, slapped and struck her face with a snow scraper before pushing her from the vehicle. He also drove away with some of her belongings, a report said.

Theft: A man reported $900 missing from his Scotland Avenue residence.

Theft: Stephen A. Zuercher, 26, of Market Street, Boardman, was charged with stealing about $114 worth of property, including alcoholic beverages, from Walmart.

Menacing: Police reported that a man admitted watching his former girlfriend at her Brookfield Avenue residence from her backyard. No charges had been filed at the time of the report, however.

Theft: Girard police handed Jessica S. Blauvelt, 32, to township authorities. Blauvelt, of Sedgwick Street, Warren, was accused of stealing $75 worth of food items Feb. 20 from Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave.

Domestic violence: A traffic stop near Doral Drive resulted in the arrests of Joseph W. Lumsden, 29, who listed Youngstown addresses on North Osborn and North Maryland avenues, on a city warrant charging domestic violence. Also taken into custody was Amanda P. Smith, 28, of Hyatt Avenue, Campbell, who was wanted on a felony probation-violation charge.

Theft: A Glenwood Avenue woman alleged her caretaker used the accuser’s debit card without authorization to rack up roughly $1,207 worth of purchases.

Theft: Authorities at the Trumbull County Jail picked up John A. Walker Jr., 23, of Hickory Lane, Warren, who was accused of stealing a $70 hunting jacket Jan. 6 from Kmart.

March 6

Arrest: Officers arrested Brent L. Herman, 38, at his Shields Road residence. The Boardman man was wanted on a Trumbull County warrant charging larceny.

Theft/criminal damaging: Two tenants reportedly took an electric stove and a refrigerator, damaged two doors and broke a window before moving from an apartment in the 30 block of Shields Road.

Theft: A man stole $50 worth of merchandise from Family Dollar, 4026 South Ave.

March 7

Arrest: A vehicle check near Lake Park Road resulted in Devon M. Talley’s arrest. Talley, 22, of Fairgreen Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a Weathersfield Township warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Domestic violence: Miranda M. Smith, 18, of South Avenue, Boardman, was charged after her husband alleged Smith had pushed him into a restroom door, then struck him several times in the face during an argument about their relationship.

Harassment: A man made several unwanted calls to a Doral Drive discount store.

Theft: A Youngstown woman discovered her wallet missing while at Southern Park Mall.

Possible theft: A dealer license plate was lost or stolen off a vehicle in the 7800 block of South Avenue.

Identity fraud: A Greenfield Drive man reported receiving a letter from the Internal Revenue Service asking for additional information related to his 2014 income taxes, even though he had not filed a tax return.

Theft: Austintown police relinquished custody of Charles R. Crosswhite, 29, who was wanted on a theft charge. Crosswhite, of Notre Dame Avenue, Austintown, was accused of taking a 22-ounce bottle of beer from Havana House, 235 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft/criminal damaging: Someone in the 4800 block of Brookwood Road entered a vehicle, damaged one of its locking mechanisms and removed a car stereo.

Menacing: A Lockwood Boulevard woman reported a man sent a threatening text message about her to a mutual friend.

Drugs: Officers answered a suspicious-person call on Carter Circle, then charged Matthew R. Lombel, 33, of Carter Circle, Boardman, with possession of heroin, drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Two bindles of suspected heroin, a suspected crack-cocaine pipe and part of a blue pill were found, police said.

Criminal damaging: A man was reportedly seen on a surveillance camera at Walmart spraying onto the floor a substance used for shining tires.

Criminal mischief: A Roche Way woman noticed someone had let the air out of her vehicle’s driver’s-side tires.

Domestic violence: Cassandra N. West, 19, faced a domestic-violence charge after a relative alleged West, of Roche Way, Boardman, had struck him in the chest with a plastic snow shovel during an altercation.

March 8

Arrest: Police received a tip about a wanted person at a Boardman-Poland Road big-box store before taking into custody Theresa M. Posey, who listed Youngstown addresses on Chicago and West Evergreen avenues. Posey, 33, was wanted on warrants accusing her of failing to appear in court on theft and assault charges.

Drugs: Prince J. Singletary, 29, of Clarencedale Avenue, Youngstown, faced a felony drug-abuse charge after having been pulled over on South Avenue. Singletary had a bottle containing a variety of pills but with no prescription, police alleged.

Arrest: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 224 led to the arrest of James M. Lego, 42, of Tyrone, Pa., who was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft: Police charged April R. Ramahi, 40, of Forest Garden Drive, Boardman, in the theft of $60 worth of merchandise, including ink cartridges, from Walmart.

Arrest: A vehicle-registration check near Shields Road resulted in the arrest of Turesa L. Prieto, 28. The Columbus woman was wanted on a Girard warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court.
