Mahoning commissioners approve purchase of electronic poll books for May primary


YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning County residents should see an improvement in the voting process beginning in May.

The commissioners Thursday authorized the purchase of 200 electronic poll books for the board of elections from Election Administration LLC of St. Louis for $289,000.

The purchase of the poll books, designed to make voting quicker and more efficient, was previously approved by the county board of elections. The new devices will make their debut in the May 5 primary election.

In other business, the commissioners recognized Timothy Callion for his induction into the Trumbull County African-American Achievers’ Association, announced that the free annual National Weather Service-sponsored Sky Warn training and heard details of

Sunday’s St. Patrick’s Day parade in Boardman.
