Diabetes education workshops set next week in Poland

POLAND — Mercy Health Youngstown is offering diabetes education from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, at Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road.

Health care professionals who teach the course, which is certified by the American Diabetes Association, focus on the medical aspects of the disease such as medications, glucose monitoring, exercise and complications during the first session.

The second and third sessions focus on learning to plan meals, count carbohydrates, interpret food labels and make positive food choices.
