“Fiddler on the Roof,SDRq directed and choreographed by Stas Kmiec, Youngstown Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane, auditions for male and female ensemble singer/dancer roles 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today; principal roles, 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday; principal callbacks, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday; and children’s auditions, 5 to 6:30 p.m., and ensemble call-backs, 6:30 to 8:30, both Tuesday. All those auditioning should bring a current photo and prepare 16 measures of a song that best fits their range with appropriate sheet music (an accompanist will be provided). Some dancing and a reading from the script also may be asked. Performances will be May 8-16.
“Grease — School Version!,SDRq Easy Street Productions, Easy Street Productions studio, 865 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, auditions 5 to 7 p.m. today and Friday. Singers, dancers and actors, boys and girls, age 8 to 14 are being sought. Auditioners should prepare 30 seconds to a minute of a song that showcases power, personality and vocal range; there will be no accompanist, therefore songs must be sung a cappella. Karaoke CDs are permitted, provided there are no additional vocals on the track. Callbacks will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Rehearsals will begin immediately — do not audition unless weeknights and weekends for the remainder of March and all of April are open and available. Rehearsals will vary based on the size of the role, but all will be expected to attend at least two to three rehearsals a week. Performances will be May 8-10 at the DeYor Performing Arts Center. Noel Coward’s “Blithe Spirit,SDRq Pierce Opera House, 100 N. Mercer Ave., Sharpsville, Pa., auditions 7 to 9 p.m. March 24. The cast includes five women and three roles for men. Performance dates will be May 29-31. Call Maria Petrella-Ackley with any questions at 724-263-5011.
“The Death and Life of Sneaky Fitch,” directed by Sam Luptak Jr., Victorian Players, Victorian Players Theatre, 702 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, auditions 7 p.m. March 27 and 28. “Sneaky Fitch” is a comedic farce set in the old west. The lead for this show, The Singer, is needed, and it will require a person who can play guitar or banjo, has a working knowledge of Country Western music, and has a big personality; it is a great opportunity for a local country band or singer to gain a bit more notoriety. The group is looking for a male or female of any age who fits the requirements. All other roles do not require singing. A range of actors, from older teenagers to those of any age, are being sought for nine male and three female roles, minimum. There are great roles for newcomers and veterans alike. Performances will be May 22-June 7, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2. Rehearsals will begin in mid-April.
