‘A friend’ reaches out to others
The News-Enterprise, Elizabethtown, Ky: Random acts of kindness are often little things that make a difference, and make us think.
Recently, winter hats and pairs of gloves were placed in the early morning in areas around and throughout Elizabethtown Community and Technical College by an anonymous Good Samaritan wanting everyone to keep warm.
Attached to each hat or pair of gloves was a note that read: “I am not lost. If you need this to stay warm, please take it. Be warm, and help someone else when you can.”
The note was signed simply, “a friend.”
Members of the ECTC community were touched by this random act of kindness.
The lesson here for each of us is to strive to make a deliberate attempt to brighten another person’s day by doing something thoughtful, nice and caring. By doing kind things for others, we help to maintain a kindness-aware citizenry that values generosity of spirit, action and kindness toward others as essential parts of a healthy community.
It’s something we should strive for every day.
So, thanks to ECTC’s Good Samaritan for reminding us that we can made a difference in the lives of others.
