CAMPBELL

A Youngstown man appeared in Campbell Municipal Court on Tuesday morning on a drug charge.

Devon Moreland, 25, of Youngstown was arrested on a fifth-degree felony charge of drug possession.

Police said they observed Moreland driving a white Ford F-150 pickup truck near Kirwan Homes. When police went to investigate, the driver sped away. Officers pursued him and conducted a traffic stop when Moreland pulled over into the parking lot of the Campbell Party Shop on 12th Street.

Moreland did not have his driver’s license, and was asked to step out of the vehicle. While checking his information, police checked the vehicle with a police dog.

Police found a pill bottle labeled with another name, which contained three unidentified pills and 10 OxyCodone pills. Moreland also was in possession of $2,435 that was seized as evidence.

Moreland is expected to appear in court for a preliminary hearing for the felony charge Tuesday. He posted bond of $575, and no plea was entered.
