Children’s center celebrates Pi Day

YOUNGSTOWN

The OH WOW! Children’s Center will celebrate the never-ending number pi and Einstein’s birthday on Saturday.

Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 (3.14) around the world. Pi is the Greek letter that is the symbol used in mathematics to represent the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.

Here is the schedule:

9-10 a.m.: Members-bnly hours. Members, volunteers and board members will try to break a Pi Day-appropriate world record.

10 a.m.: Museum opens. Bring a pre-packaged pie to donate to St. Vincent DePaul Society, and receive $3.14 admission for every pie donated all day.

10:30-11:30 a.m.: Pizza Pie Math Storytime with FeltSmart Productions (ages 3-8).

11 a.m.-3 p.m.: Explore and experiment in InspireWorks!, compete in pi and Hula Hoop contests, and make a geometry creation.

The museum also offers more than 50 hands-on, interactive exhibits.
