Teacher on paid leave pending investigation

A Lowellville High School teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the Ohio Department of Education’s investigation into a purported security breach involving administration of a Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career test.

“The administration immediately notified the Ohio Department of Education and is maintaining full cooperation with the department,” Superintendent Eugene Thomas said.

Because the investigation is ongoing, and upon the advice of legal counsel, district officials will make no further comment. The teacher was not identified.

ODOT offers info on Route 224 project

CANFIELD

Ohio Department of Transportation officials will hand out brochures to local businesses at the U.S. 224 and state Route 11 interchange between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. today as construction is scheduled to begin later in the month.

The brochures will inform businesses of the upcoming construction project and maintenance of traffic patterns on Route 224 over Route 11 and on Raccoon Road at Route 224. The brochures also include a map of the project and contact information for businesses if they have questions or need additional information.

Later this month, ODOT will begin a $6.5 million project to replace and widen the Route 224 bridge over Route 11 and widen Raccoon Road. The project also includes the widening of the Route 11 southbound ramp to Route 224.
