Warren mayoral candidate bounced from primary ballot

WARREN — Ian Folmar Sr. will not be on the primary ballot running against Warren Doug Franklin for Warren mayor, but he said he will run as an independent in November.

The Trumbulll County Board of Elections listened to testimony from Folmar this morning during an appeal hearing and upheld its earlier decision to remove his name from the ballot because of having an insufficient number of signatures on his petitions.

Folmar, who said he's retired from the Internal Revenue Service, said many of his petitions were invalid because so many of the people who signed them are homeless, a problem he didn't realize was so serious until he confronted it while obtaining signatures.
