Egg Artistry

MASURY
For more than 40 years, Ruth Jennings has done something that most only dream of. She spends her workdays doing what she loves: egg artistry.
Jennings’ business, Alcraft Egg Artistry LLC, 1370 Custer-Orangeville Road, Masury, allows her to dedicate her time to not only selling decorated eggs, but also to teaching others how to continue the intricate egg-embellishing craft. Ruth opened her business in 1971, first as a craft store, but shortly afterward, she became enamored with the craft of decorating eggs and became a vendor and all-around egg-artistry connoisseur.
“When you give a person one of these eggs, it’s something special. … An egg symbolizes a new beginning, and people love them!” Jennings said.
The eggs vary in sizes and egg types from finch eggs to goose eggs, and each features a distinct design. Jennings says those who take up egg artistry find that their problems disappear at the door — causing it to become a form of therapy where they can relax and work on their projects.
Jennings plans to continue her egg-artistry classes, which she offers three times a week. But she encourages folks to stop out to see the shop, which is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Bus tours are encouraged to call ahead for reservations.
