Man arrested after chewing drugs

YOUNGSTOWN — An Austintown man spent the weekend in the Mahoning County jail after police say he tried to chew a suboxone strip during a traffic stop for running a stop sign on the West Side about 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Reports said two officers from the Vice Squad pulled over a car driven by Gage Sobon, 29, and as they walked up to his door they saw his hands moving toward his mouth.

Reports said Sobon was ordered to spit out whatever was in his mouth and he did so, reports said. Reports said he then told police the strip belonged to a friend of his. He was arrested on charges of possession of drugs and tampering with evidence.
