Local auto sales dipped in February

YOUNGSTOWN — Local auto sales dropped 3.4 percent from last year during the Mahoning Valley’s coldest February on record.

Total new- and used-car sales went from 5,423 to 5,611, according to the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio data released Monday morning.

Leading Valley dealerships included: Greenwood Chevrolet with 191 cars sold; Stadium GM Superstore came in second with 187 sold; and Sweeney Buick GMC in third with 158 sold.

However, all three saw a decline in sales from last February.

The Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze had its title as local best-selling new car taken by the Chevrolet Equinox during the month. The Chevrolet Silverado came in second and the GMC Terrain came in third.

The Cruze came in fourth place with 61 sold.

The only model in the top four to see an increase in sales from last February was the Silverado.
