Fingerling-size fish orders accepted
YOUNGSTOWN
The Mahoning Soil and Water Conservation District, 850 Industrial Road, is selling fingerling-size fish for stocking ponds and lakes.
One hundred fathead minnows are $7; 8- to 12- inch white amur are $15 each; 2- to 4-inch bluegill and 2- to 4-inch inch yellow perch are 80 cents each; and 2- to 3-inch inch bass, 2- to 4-inch inch shell crackers, 4- to 5-inch inch channel cat and 2- to 3-inch inch yellow perch are all 85 cents each.
The deadline for ordering is April 17, and pickup will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. April 23 at the Canfield Fairgrounds, 7265 Columbiana-Canfield Road.
Bring a lined container filled with pond water on the day of pickup. Five to 10 gallons of water per 100 fish are required.
The white amur must be placed in a container with a lid or liner large enough to be tied at the top. Only two white amur to each five gallons of water will be permitted.

Run Away From Drugs 5K planned
COLUMBIANA
Leadership Columbiana County will host the Run Away From Drugs 5K on April 11 at Firestone Park Pavilion 1, 338 E. Park Ave.
Registration is from 8 to 8:45 a.m., and the race starts at 9 a.m. Race-day registration cost is $20; children 11 and under are $10. T-shirts will be given to the first 75 people registered.
Pre-registration cost is $17, and forms can be obtained by calling or texting 330-271-9143. Columbiana County drug canine officers will be present along with other agencies and groups involved with drug education, awareness and rehabilitation. There also will be vendors, free giveaways and a basket auction.
Proceeds will be donated to create new drug-awareness and prevention programs in Columbiana County schools.
Placko eliminated from CMT show
Phil Placko Jr. of Struthers appeared Sunday night as a contestant on “Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge,” the CMT competition show, but quickly was eliminated.
Placko,48, owner of Firm Fitness and Spray Tan in Boardman, squared off against another contestant in the first match of the first round. The two men were strapped to each other with a length of rope, with the winner being the one who rang a bell on his end of the course.
“Broken Skull Challenge” pits contestants against one another in a serious of grueling physical challenges.
