Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica was the setting for the 2 p.m. Aug. 16, 2014, exchange of vows between Megan Elizabeth Cunning of Campbell and David Rankin of Poland.

The bride’s uncle, the Rev. Richard Murphy, officiated.

The newlyweds accepted congratulations during a reception at Youngstown Country Club in Liberty.

Attorney Patrick and Mary Eileen Cunning of Campbell are parents of the bride. The groom is a son of Leanne Lordi of Mill Village, Pa., and the late Leroy David Rankin.

Mrs. Rankin graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University. She is a legal assistant at Scullin and Cunning LLC in Boardman.

Mr. Rankin also earned a bachelor’s degree from YSU. He works for Liberty Township.

The bride wore an ivory beaded, embroidered and corded lace tulle ball gown with an illusion neckline, high beaded back featuring satin buttons and a chapel-length train. The ensemble was completed by a lace-trimmed cathedral length veil. The bride also inherited her great-grandmother’s 101-year-old wedding band; Margaret Gallagher Whelan was given the ring in 1913 on the occasion of her marriage to Dr. Raymond E. Whelan, the founder and first chief of staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital.

The bride’s sister, Kathryn Cunning, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kristin and Melissa Kmetz, the bride’s cousins; Jessica Knopp, the bride’s sister-in-law; Colleen Kosta and Bette Morar. Alyse Murphy, the bride’s cousin, was flower girl. The attendants wore petal pink dresses.

The groom’s brother, Steven Rankin, performed duties of best man. Groomsmen were Brian and Tim Cunning, the bride's brothers; Eric Brown, the bride’s brother-in-law; Andrew Lordi, the groom’s brother; Michael Rozum; and Steven Tripepi.
