CLEVELAND

Ford on Friday announced the official production start of the all-new twin-scroll 2.0-liter and 2.3-liter EcoBoost engines for North America at its Cleveland Engine Plant in Ohio. The announcement marks the first time these engines are being produced in the U.S.

The twin-scroll 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine is available in the all-new Ford Edge, launching in the first quarter of 2015. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine is available in the all-new Ford Mustang, Explorer and Lincoln MKC.

More factory jobs, bigger trade deficit

The U.S. Department of Labor reported America’s manufacturing sector added 8,000 jobs in February.

The Alliance for American Manufacturing meter, which tracks President Barack Obama’s promise to create 1 million new manufacturing jobs in his second term, progressed to plus 383,000 jobs, after revisions to January’s data.

Additionally, the U.S. Commerce Department reported that America’s monthly goods trade deficit with China climbed to $28.6 billion in January. The country’s deficit with Japan climbed to $5.7 billion in the same month.
