Applications due March 13 for student summer institute

The deadline for students to apply for the free 2015 Appalachian Regional Commission/Oak Ridge National Laboratory Summer Math-Science-Technology Institute is next Friday.
Application materials must be submitted directly to the Governor’s Office of Appalachia and postmarked no later than that date.
All Ohio Appalachian middle-school and high-school students interested in math, science and technology are encouraged to apply. The institute will be at Oak Ridge National Laboratory from July 11 to July 24 for high- school students and from July 19 to July 24 for middle- school students, both in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Middle-school participants must be between 12 and 14 years old by July 19. High-school participants must be at least 16 years old by July 11.
Students will be chaperoned 24 hours a day, and the institute will cover all expenses, which include meals, lodging and transportation.
Appalachian high-school teachers in the math, science and technology fields also are eligible to apply and will receive a stipend for their participation.
