Driver cited for marijuana possession

Police found a bag of marijuana and a pipe with marijuana residue during a traffic stop about 4:10 p.m. Wednesday at Vestal Road and North Hazelwood avenues for having no front license plate.

Reports said officers smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana in the car and the driver, Ryan Alexander, 20, of Youngstown, told police he was at a tire shop where everyone was smoking marijuana.

Reports said Alexander told police he had a bag of marijuana in his pocket. Officers found the bag and the pipe inside the car.

Alexander was issued citations for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and having no front license plate.
