Case of Boardman man facing charges after bar fight will go to a grand jury

The case of a township man facing a host of charges, including two felonies, has been bound over to a Mahoning County grand jury.
Stefan Fiutowski, 27, of Rockdale Avenue, appeared in Mahoning County Area Court on Tuesday where he waived his right to a preliminary hearing and requested the case be sent to the county’s common pleas court.
He faces misdemeanor charges of using a weapon while intoxicated, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest, obstructing official business, aggravated menacing and assault.
He also faces a fourth-degree felony charge of carrying a loaded, concealed weapon with a prior offense and a third-degree felony charge of possession of a firearm in a liquor establishment.
The charges stem from an incident Feb. 21 at The English Pub, 1305 Boardman-Poland Road.
Several police officers responded to the bar, according to a police report, for a call about a fight involving a knife.
According to the report, Fiutowski tried to pour liquor from a bottle in his backpack into a drink from the bar. When the bartender cut him off, he reportedly became angry, and two people at the bar tried to calm him down.
Fiutowski reportedly brandished a knife, punched and bit someone who tried to intervene, and attacked another patron.
When police arrived on scene, they used a stun gun to subdue Fiutowski when he refused to comply with orders, struggled with them and shouted profanities. Police then found a gun and a knife in Fiutowski’s backpack.
Fiutowski is in the Mahoning County jail.
