Ohio man sentenced to life for killing neighbor

AKRON

A judge has sentenced a northeastern Ohio man to life in prison for fatally shooting a neighbor last summer over what authorities said was a long-brewing dispute.

Twenty-nine-year-old Joseph Hrubik apologized to the family of victim Christopher Fenwick in court Monday in Akron, saying that he will suffer every day with the knowledge of what he had done. He won’t be eligible for parole for 28 years.

Hrubik previously pleaded guilty to aggravated murder.

Prosecutors say he the shooting began with a drug- and alcohol-fueled argument on July 23. Hrubik grabbed a gun, and went to Fenwick’s porch to confront him.

Prosecutors say Hrubik fired six shots, hitting the 25-year-old Fenwick four times. The fatal shot hit the unarmed Fenwick in the head as he ran away.
