St. Joseph the Provider Catholic School, in the city’s historic Brier Hill area, has received a $15,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Education.

The 2014 Agriculture Appropriations Act authorized the Ohio Department of Education, Office for Child Nutrition, to competitively award equipment assistance grants to eligible school-food authorities participating in the National School Lunch Program.

ODE received grant applications from 268 school food authorities and 79 grant recipients received awards totaling $1.2 million.

St. Joseph school of the Diocese of Youngstown was one of seven nonpublic schools receiving the grant. The school’s president, the Rev.
