Ralph T. Meacham sworn in tonight as Mahoning County auditor

NEW WATERFORD — Ralph T. Meacham was sworn in as acting Mahoning County auditor and also as auditor at 6:30 p.m. tonight by Judge Carol Robb of the 7th District Court of Appeals in the judge’s New Waterford residence.

Meacham, whose return from a European vacation was delayed by a winter storm on the East Coast, said he wanted to be sworn in as soon as possible to ensure continuity in auditor’s office operations.

The county commissioners appointed Meacham as acting auditor Thursday, after a three-judge panel imposed a paid suspension on Michael V. Sciortino on Feb. 23 based on allegations against Sciortino in the Oakhill Renaissance Place criminal conspiracy case.

Judge Robb will conduct a ceremonial swearing-in of Meacham at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Mahoning County Courthouse rotunda.
